Gina Gale has been obsessed with the long-lost Mevoyan culture for years. She's devoted her life to the study of their culture, their rituals, and the Ruby of Ages, a legendary jewel said to have mystic powers. Amidst the thrill of new ruins discovered in South America, new clues emerge about the Ruby's location, setting her off on a race with her rag-tag group of friends against her fame-hungry rival, Kaufman, and his hired team of experts. It seems that all her dreams are coming true when she finds herself in the gem's temple, but deadly traps throughout the underground cave system turn that dream into more of a nightmare. And mysterious disappearances make it clear that their expedition has been infiltrated by a shape-shifting monster she had thought extinct. One of her companions is a killer in disguise. This naive scholar is going to have to do whatever it takes to make it out alive.

The prologue totally intrigued me so I gladly posted an ad for Cyndi Bishop's first publicized novel on my Facebook page. She began by placing me inside the eyes & mind of what seems to be a pursuing rapist but knowing Cyndi's love of twists & dragons; I was sure I knew what was coming. I was wrong! In fact it took me until well into this archeological spelunking labyrinthine sci/fi fantasy adventure before I knew how wrong I was. I generally hate & avoid all references to "undead." I will not read or watch horror, especially with vampires, zombies, or other, what I judge to be, demonic creatures. I know there are real demons & do not want to glorify such. We have enough people openly seeking & promoting "the dark side" as it is. Since I am proud to call Cyndi friend & sister AND since by this time I was caught up in solving the mysteries; I overrode my anxiety about her horrific Ondier (my apologies, don't have book to get the correct spelling right now.) Analysis: The beginning grabbed my interest. The tale held it though it seemed to draw too much from other popular fiction thus seeming a bit contrived. A few characters were too good or oblivious to be believed. It was difficult to follow some historical threads. The komodo dragon-like creatures were an excellent deflection! The mystery's conclusion was a bit too pat. The romantic ending a sweet bit, & who our heroine partners with, unexpected. Despite Cyndi & I meeting because I sought a Christian co-writer for a book I've yet to finish--I perceived no spirituality in the story or in the interior struggles of her characters. There was some religion in the native peoples Cyndi created. And true to real life, her fictitious archeological historians, despite arrogant certainty, had that wrong. Cyndi developed her characters often by putting the reader inside each character's mind. I like that a lot. It is a grand quality Cyndi has as a writer. However, I wanted an honest universal internal deeper-than-self struggle. I do think the ending was a set-up for more & feel fairly sure her new books, now out here on Amazon, will only get better!Product details

Treasure Hunted Cy Bishop 9781364961916 Books Reviews
I'm not a person who enjoys reading but I really enjoyed this story. It kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to put the book down the characters and stories we're very realistic I could see someone actually doing an expedition like this except for some of that unexpected things that occurred. I loved it very much.
I agree with the other reviewer, except it's not quite like "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (which actually IS Indiana Jones with aliens and also a terrible movie), it's more like a crossover of Indiana Jones and "Signs," but in a good way.
This book is AMAZING! It keeps you engrossed from cover to cover. I recommend this book highly for anyone who loves a good mystery thriller. It's like Indiana Jones with a little dash of aliens. Best book I've read in years!
I loved the version so much, I had to buy the actual book! Fascinating story - made me think of Indiana Jones, with a great sci-fi twist. I highly recommend it!
With realistic characters that draw you in, fascinating settings that keep you guessing, and a plot that keeps you reading to the end, Treasure Hunted is a whirlwind adventure that most certainly keeps you on your toes. The story is set in an alternate universe very similar to our own, but with two major exceptions, the shape-shifting Ondier, and the ancient Mevoyans. Danger lurks around every corner of this book, from ancient ruins riddled with clever traps to archaeological espionage to the threat of an Ondier in the expedition's midst. Fans of suspense, monsters, intrigue, and good books in general will not be disappointed.
